Book ARCs on My Shelves

The guilt factor is at work this morning. I look at my list of ARCs to be read and I find the stack facing me creeping up faster than I have time to read these days. The cool weather this past week should be good for reading, but my thoughts are turning elsewhere. What's a reader to do?

Here are some new ARCs.

Struck by Jennifer Bosworth - A girl struck by lightning hundreds of times holds the fate of the world in her hands.
The Girl Next Door by Brad Parks - Reporter Carter Ross investigates an unusual obituary.
Sacrilege by S. J. Parris, historical mystery
As the Crow Flies by Craig Johnson, mystery
Trail of the Spellmans by Lisa Lutz,  mystery
The Watchers by Jon Steele, thriller
Gypsy Boy: My Life in the Secret World of the Romany Gypsies by Mikey Walsh, memoir
The Technologists: A Novel by Matthew Pearl, literary and historical fiction
The Spy Who Jumped Off the Screen by Thomas Caplan, thriller

Do you have a system of what books you read first, apart from the publication date?

  1. Gypsy Boy sounds fantastic! I don't have a system, and that's hard because I have tons of books that need to be read. Often I just try to catch what I can as close to publication as possible, but I too, am way behind!

  2. I don't think your the only blogger way behind in ARCs, so don't feel bad. I'm feeling the guilt myself, too, but I've cut back on what I accept in the hopes of clearing the backlog.

  3. I can relate to that guilt! It's become impossible to keep up with the stacks of books that seem to grow as if by magic! :)

  4. I feel the guilt as well but the more pressure I put on myself, the less I want to read. I incorporate some books I buy with review books. I'm a huge mood reader and I really need read what I feel like at the time. If it feels like I have to read it, I won't want to.

  5. I sympathize with you big time. This is the reason why I stopped accepting ARCs. I just can't do it anymore. I should say I set limits.

  6. Gypsy Boys sounds like a great one to start with! I
Jenny is my sponsor to help me stop accepting review books! She's kept me honest and to date I've filled up my 25 spots....feels good not to have all those ARCs screaming at me!

  7. I have ARC guilt as well, especially when I don't read them before their release date. I've cut way down , and have made peace with the fact some will be donated unread.

Technologists is on my TBR list.

  8. I just finished reading and reviewing a book on my e-reader that was long overdue. I find I read the books faster, maybe because they are on the table and stare at me. I also have a guilt when I get behind on the reads and reviews.
