They stopped once for the night in Albuquerque. The name of the city intrigued the girl, so she looked it up in the encyclopedia she carried with her. It was her most prized possession. (from an uncorrected proof. Final copy may differ)

  1. This one recently caught my attention. I'll have to add it to my wishlist. This week I'm spotlighting a mystery - Front Runner by Felix Francis. Happy reading!

  3. I tried to get this one from NetGalley, but I wasn't approved! That rarely happens. Sigh. But now I'm more determined than ever to get my hands on it. lol.

I don't think I like that sheet pan of cricket carcasses, though, lol; I had a battle with crickets this summer.

    Enjoy! Here's mine: “HILLBILLY ELEGY”

  5. That 56 gave me the shudders! This sounds interesting and makes me wonder just what is going on that the mother is trying so hard to hide. Enjoy your reading.

  6. Your 56 quote seems....rather disturbing, taken out of context as it is? That imagery, though--that imagery is so crisp and stunning! I might have to go look this one up on goodreads and see what's what! Thanks so so much for sharing!

Here is my Friday 56, if you're interested in checking it out! No pressure or worries at all if you're not, though. Happy book-ing to you in the near future, and happy Friday! <3

  7. Very interesting. And I still keep a thesaurus and dictionary right by my favorite chair.
