Magpie Tales: Lip Color

Magpie Tales is hosted weekly by Willow.

My first contribution to Magpie Tales:

Lip Color

Like a dark tongue
That films my lips,
Like a weapon

Pointed and curved,
A slash, a shimmer of red and brown
Changes who I am.

It makes demands.
I am no longer me.

That was a bit of fun! Try it out!

  2. I like it a lot! I'm so glad you decided to write a Magpie Tale. My imagination took your bit (of fun) and ran into the story with it. Well done.

  3. There seems to be the recurring themes of power, youth, and confidence that is interchangeably locked to a tube of lipstick.

    Good job

  4. Lovely piece -- powerful really when you think about it, that a tube of lipstick can change us so dramatically,

    A nice take on Magpie,

  7. Welcome aboard!
You're going to do well here, I can tell by your flair with words.
Lipstick alone can create a disguise.

  8. Lipstick has a tendency to make us believe we are playing grown up make-believe steeping into shoes not our own.

    "like a dark tongue"

The application of makeup can blend or appear to make a new person from the "old" person. Wonders exactly how that happens. If I get a date, why not?

  9. a finely honed verse...those last two lines bring it to a sharp point...to be another, and lose ourseves in it. a funn magpie, definitely.

  10. Oh to paint the face and disappear, only to reappear in a disguise that is not real... all from a tiny tube of color. Well done!

  17. Hmm, is this form like a haiku? (sorry, not quite familiar with poetic forms). It's nice, I like it :)

And Magpie Tales sound very interesting! Thanks, I might try to contribute one time.
