Sunday Salon: Spring and Books

The Sunday Salon.com Welcome to the Sunday Salon.

It's slightly foggy and misty in the Midwest and warmer than the 57 degrees in Los Angeles, where I have relatives. The garden loves the sprinkling of rain here and my cherry tree is blossoming. So are the service berry trees that line three blocks on our street with white blossoms!

 from www.botanikfoto.com

I am reading Lucifer's Tears by James Thompson
Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking by Susan Cain
Shore Excursion by Marie Moore, for a blog tour

Three books that I won from my fellow bloggers:
Paris My Sweet by Amy Thomas,
The Yoga Club by Cooper Lawrence, and
77 Shadow Street by Dean Koontz

The latest books in my mailbox are
The Greatest Love Story of All Time, a romance by Lucy Robinson
The Patchwork Marriage by Jane Green
Hide Me Among the Graves by Tim Powers
Before the Poison by Peter Robinson

What are you reading these days and have you read any of the books I listed? If you have, which do you recommend?

Happy Spring!

  4. Question - what are service berries? I think one of the joys of having four seasons is getting to see all of the trees and bushes flower in the spring!

    1. Lisa: I've added a photo of the serviceberry blossoms. The tree has small red berries that the birds love.

  5. I didn't know you were in the LA area too! Isn't this weather strange? I just checked out Quiet from the library so I can't wait to read your thoughts on it. Have a great week!

    1. I clarified my post, Vasilly. I am in Ohio but have family in LA. I know it's cold and rainy there.

I am enjoying Quiet as I think I'm an introvert at heart.

  8. I love it when the flowers start blooming! I'll be curious to see what you think of the Lucy Robinson book. I started it and thought it had way too much profanity to me, but plot wise it didn't seem too bad.

    1. Melissa: I recommend the book. A new approach to an old "problem" - understanding the quiet and nonassertive personalities.
