Sunday Salon: Autumn Honey, Apples, and Pumpkins

The Sunday Salon.com Welcome to the Sunday Salon! Also visit The Sunday Post hosted by The Caffeinated Bookreviewer; Showcase Sunday at Books, Biscuits, and Tea; and It's Monday: What Are You Reading? at Book Journey, and Mailbox Monday at Book Dragon’s Lair this month.

We drove over to a fruit farm the other day and bought some cooking pumpkins, Fuji apples, and their delicious honey. Honey on bread, yum! You get the real flavor of the honey this way, though my DH loves it to sweeten his coffee.

My splurge for the week was a leather Fossil mini wallet to replace my old vinyl fanny pack. I thought it a bit pricy for an itty-bitty purse, but in persuading me, the sales girl said her mother loves this brand, which "lasts forever."  I was persuaded.

This is a Scandinavian thriller I wish I had more time to read... found it on my shelves, but I'll get to it eventually.

Review books I received last week:

After I'm Gone by Laura Lippman, ARC from William Morrow
Hunting Shadows by Charles Todd, ARC from William Morrow
The Sister Season by Jennier Scott, Penguin paperback
The Secrets She Carried by Barbara Davis, Penguin paperback

What came in your mailbox? Have a fantastic Sunday doing whatever you love best!

I got a copy of After She's Gone at a publisher's event I attended on Friday. I love Laura Lippman's books, although she scares me a bit...LOL. All the books I received at the publisher's event are in my Sunday post: http://www.bookclublibrarian.com/2013/10/sundays-weekly-book-recap-41.html

Enjoy your new books, along with your pumpkins, apples, and honey. This is such a great time of year for food and foliage. Have a great week!

Sounds like a great time at the fruit farm! Wish we had one near us! When we went to Savannah this year I did discover the Savannah Bee Company and wow, I never knew honey could be so delicious! They had honey combs for sale! Looks like a great week in your mailbox too! I always love Laura Lippman!

That author has one of the most complex surnames I think I've seen in a long time. Glad I don't have to remember how to spell it

I've always wanted to go apple picking! I just seems like the perfect fall activity. But of course, haven't yet and may need to look into seeing if there's places nearby we can visit before the season is over.

I too am immersed in local pumpkins and apples. I often make at least one dish with pumpkins or gourds this time of year. I really need to come up with something....
