Sunday Salon: Library Reads

 It's  way too cold for the mailman to lug packages here, I guess, LOL, so I had no books arriving last week! But I have some library books I'm getting through and some on hold too.

 I'm reading about teens involved in a murder at a posh boarding school in Ireland. The Secret Place by Tana French is intriguing and a very good read, as were her other books.

The Narrow Road to the Deep North
The Narrow Road to the Deep North by Richard Flanagan deals with war, with more themes of life and love. Did you know that the Japanese poet Basho's poems are collected in a book also titled The Narrow Road to the Deep North and Other Travel Sketches ? Basho is one of my favorite haiku writers.

 There are two books on hold at the library for me that I hope to pick up today. A Cat Sitter cozy, the latest in the series, and one other book. Libraries rule!

 What are you reading this frigid January? We are envious of those of you living in warm Florida and California!

    I've only read one of French's books and it was part of the Murder Squad series. Is this part of that as well?

    Okay, you knew somebody was going to ask...what's the one other book waiting for you at the library? And yes, as I alluded to on Facebook, libraries do rule.

    Recently -- maybe November or December, I read In the Woods, as I had not begun with French at the beginning. I had started with Broken Harbor. I like her work -- will likely put this on the list between more difficult reads.

    I have heard really good things about the he Narrow Road to the Deep North. I have also heard that it is a little disturbing. If you decide to blog about it I look forward to reading your thoughts on it.

      The Narrow Road is not that easy to read. I have to concentrate and find quiet time.

    I have The Narrow Road to the Deep North sitting on my shelves waiting to be read. I hope to get to it soon, but recognize that, given the subject matter, I'll need to be in the right mood to read it.

    I had a really hard time getting into The Secret Place (took me about 300 pages and I almost put it down)....but, once I got past that I was hooked! Those girls' antics defied the imagination!

    I have yet to read a Tana French book. I have a friend who is obsessed with some of her previous releases! I need to get around to it sometime.
