Sunday Salon: Still Reading, Still Raining

Welcome to the Sunday Salon where bloggers share their reading each week. Visit The Sunday Post hosted by The Caffeinated Bookreviewer. Also visit Mailbox Monday.
Rain has spoiled some planned events this weekend.
The hydrangeas we planted last year are beginning to bloom.
The McKinley sour cherry tree has lots of ripe fruit, being shared with the squirrels and robins. I picked some to stew with sugar for tarts or cherry juice!
Of course, the grass needs mowing....again.

I've finished reading
Every Secret Thing by Laura Lippman, a mystery - four stars
Crazy Mountain Kiss by Keith McCafferty, a mystery set in Montana - five stars
Tell the Wolves I'm Home by Carol Rifka Brunt, fiction - four stars

and I'm currently reading

The Truth and Other Lies by Sascha Arango, to be released June 23, 2015; Viking.
I am on chapter 5 and finding the plot intriguing so far. A famous and wealthy author hides the fact that his reclusive wife, a prolific writer, is the true author of all his books.

Other review books that are on my desk:

The Drowning, to be released September 16, 2015; Pegasus Books
The Someday Jar
A Lady of Good Family
Pretty Much Screwed
Next on my list to read:
Hotel Moscow by Talia Carner, for a book tour on June 29.

Has the weather been good to you this summer? How about your reading?

  2. We have had a huge amount of rain. It's an odd June for us. But, it could just as easily stop raining and not rain again until November or something. Our drought is eased. Your books look good. I've been thinking about reading The Truth and Other Lies. Will be interested in what you think when you are finished.

  4. We haven't had great weather this week either, but at least that gives us more reading time. You've got some great books there... I loved Tell the Wolves I'm Home and would like to read Every Secret Thing.

  5. Oh, I now am eyeing The Truth and Other Lies....sounds so good. I also loved Every Secret Thing, and recently, found a movie On Demand, which was really riveting, too. Diane Lane and Dakota Fanning starred, among others.

Thanks for visiting my blog, and have a great week.

  6. We have had mostly nice weather here on Long Island. Today is one of the few rainy days that we have had.

As I have been decrying my lack of reading time I would not mind if some of my plans were derailed.

  7. All of the books look great and I feel like they should be on my TBR! I like a rainy day here and there but too much can definitely be frustrating though it's probably doing your hydrangea some good. Have a great week!

  8. A couple of those are on my TBR stack. Enjoy the hydrangeas!

  9. What else can you do with sour cherries besides make juice?

    Have a great week!

  10. We've had a break from the rain, but it's been lots of really hot summer days again. I love the cover of The Someday Jar, and I will have to check out Pretty Much Screwed. Hope you have a great week!

  11. Someday Jar and A Lady of Good Family look interesting. I hope your rain calms. We planted a couple of hydrangeas from church a few years ago. They have huge blooms - my husband added acid to get them a nice deep blue.
    Enjoy your week!

  13. Looks like you have some great books. It's been hot here in Virginia. I've noticed fruit (cherries and peaches) taste especially good now. Have a great week.

  15. Happy reading! I think I've had enough rain...it has been horrid here the past week, but now it's going to be hot and humid in the high 90s

  17. Nice selection of books for you.

We have had rain every day along with hot weather, but I am not complaining after the past two awful winters. :)

    ENJOY your reading week.
