I'm raking up fallen leaves from last autumn, clearing flowerbeds and bushes of old debris, having found a wonderful new tool - a shrub rake with a very long handle that grabs leaves from under bushes and pulls leaves from bushes without leaving damage. Wish I had known about this rake years ago!
On the reading score, I have three new books this week:
A Drop in the Ocean by Jenni Ogden, to be released May 3, 2016, published by She Writes Press. On her 49th birthday, Anna Fergusson, Boston neuroscientist and dedicated introvert, arrives at an unwanted crossroads when the funding for her research lab is cut. On impulse she rents a cabin for a year on Australia's Great Barrier Reef. However Turtle Island, alive with sea birds and nesting Green turtles, is not the retreat she expected. On the reading score, I have three new books this week:
300 Days of Sun from the author Deborah Lawrenson, published April 12, 2016 by Harper Paperbacks
Deborah Lawrenson’s mesmerizing novel transports readers to a sunny Portuguese town with a shadowy past—where two women, decades apart, are drawn into a dark game of truth and lies that still haunts the shifting sea marshes. (goodreads)
And this year's Pulitzer Prize Winner for Fiction I bought for my Kindle:
The Sympathizer by Viet Thanh Nguyen, published April 7, 2015 by Grove Press
The Sympathizer is a blistering exploration of identity, politics, and America, wrought in electric prose. The narrator, a Vietnamese army captain, is a man of divided loyalties, a half-French, half-Vietnamese communist sleeper agent in America after the end of the Vietnam War in the mid 1970s. A powerful story of love and friendship, and a gripping espionage novel, The Sympathizer examines the legacy of the Vietnam War in literature, film, and the wars we fight today. (goodreads)
What's on your reading list this week?
I still haven't even looked at the Pulitzer Prize list! I've been busy busy cleaning up the yard and tending to my veggie garden, too. That rake does sound like a back saver!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!

Oh, I need to rake some leaves too! I usually sweep them, as they are all over my patio...sigh.
ReplyDeleteA Drop in the Ocean looks good...enjoy your week. Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
I need that rake. Lol thanks for sharing it, I'll have to look for one. I can think of some useful purposes I could put that too! And a Drop in the Ocean looks great- would love t read about the Barrier Reef.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great rake! Now that I'm renting, I don't need to rake (Yay!) but I could have used that when I had the house!
ReplyDeleteAll those books look great! 300 Days of Sun sounds just like my kind of read too! I just finished Fire in The Blood by Irene Nemirovsky, which is a wonderful read. It's only 129 pages, and worth every page!
Thanks for sharing your books and have a great week!

ReplyDeleteI'm so attracted to your first two books because they look sun-drenched. Perfect summer reading!
ReplyDeleteNot too sure about The Sympathiser but the first two books look great. (Perhaps for the same reason as Laura... they look inviting!)
ReplyDeleteThe Sympathiser is definitely on my 'should read, but need to find the right time' list. 300 Days of Sun in the mediterranean sounds great though. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteA Drop in the Ocean caught my eye. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever read a Pulitzer Prize winner. I hope you enjoy it. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteYou have all good picks this week! They make me want to go to the beach and read The Sympathizer. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI used to love raking leaves as a child! Also, all of your reads look so amazing, I've added them all to my TBR list, especially 'The Sympathizer'! Thanks for sharing :) I hope you have a great next week!
