HIstorical mysteries are a popular genre for mystery writers. The cover of this one caught my eye right off.
A Most Extraordinary Pursuit (Untitled #1) by Juliana Gray
Genre: historical mystery
Publisher's description: As the personal secretary of the recently departed Duke of Olympia—and a woman of good character—Miss Emmeline Rose Truelove never expected to be steaming through the Mediterranean on a luxuriously appointed yacht under the watchful and jovial eye of one Lord Silverton. But here they are, as improper as it is, on a quest to find the duke’s heir, whereabouts unknown. And as they steam from port to port on Max’s trail, dodging danger at every turn, Truelove will discover the folly of her misconceptions—about the whims of the heart, the desires of men, and the nature of time itself... (goodreads)
After years of neglecting my ereader, I am having fun downloading ebooks from our local library, faster than I can read them. I have even decided to download a book I already have, hoping it will be easier to read it on the Kindle. The advantages are: you can read in low light, play with the size and style of the font, and not have to worry about a return date for the physical book.

It does look like a nice cover. A cozy I guess it is. I haven't read any recently but tend to think of Agatha Christie in that vein.
ReplyDeleteDeborah, there are so many varieties and themes in cozies these days, or historical mysteries, it boggles the mind. They have a far way from Agatha, though she is the light that they write by I am sure!
DeleteI like a real book. I tend to forget that I have books on my e-reader. They just don't feel like they really exist to me!

I used to feel that way until I wanted to read in low light while others watched TV!
DeleteI didn't think I would enjoy an e-reader, but after my daughter gifted me with one in 2010, I became a fan. Even more so now with my upgraded version (Paperwhite). I like that I can read it while waiting for the movie to start...(the light).
ReplyDeleteEnjoy that lovely book. I haven't tried borrowing from the library...good idea!
Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
A paper white is on my wish list! I have a Kindle Fire (a reminder to get rid of flammable paper books, my sons say.)
DeleteI'm an e- reader convert too, although I still like a physical book. I'll take either! And I love that cover- I want the book for that alone, although steaming around the Mediterranean dodging danger doesn't sound bad either. I'll have to go take a look at that one!
ReplyDeleteA steamer on the Mediterranean tops everything!
DeleteThat is a nice looking cover. Enjoy your Kindle.
ReplyDeleteI have finaly gotten the hang of it.
