Sunday Salon: Let It Snow

The Sunday Salon.com Welcome to the Sunday Salon! Also visit The Sunday Post hosted by The Caffeinated Bookreviewer, and It's Monday: What Are You Reading? at Book Journey. Also, Mailbox Monday at its permanent home, and Stacking the Shelves at Tyngas' Reviews.

The snow doesn't bother me anymore. More snow coming today? Okay. So, I'm getting blase about this unusually white winter. I know that the Northeast is getting unused-to ice storms, which is something they're not used to, as yet! How about you?

The cover makes the book. Do you agree? How about these covers?

But I am also intrigued by clever and eye catching titles! Such as the ones below:

Which one would you choose to read first? Click on their covers, which will take you to the goodreads book descriptions. They are new review books, thanks to the publishers.

Right now, I'm reading Savage Girl by Jean Zimmerman, about a girl raised by wolves in Nevada in the 19th century. Quite interesting.

What did you get in your mailbox and which are you planning to read this week?

  1. I especially like the cover for When The Cypress Whispers. We've had a little snow, but it melted within two days. It's beautiful when I can enjoy it from inside. Enjoy your books!

  2. So many lovely covers! I think When the Cypress Whispers grabs me first...and then, Spinning in Her Grave.

It's probably best to accept whatever the weather shows us, since we have no control! But forewarned can be forearmed...getting in provisions, etc. Enjoy! And thanks for visiting my blog.

  3. I think this is the worst winter since we moved to Tennessee, so much snow and below zero temps. I think I am ready for spring now. :) Enjoy your week and the new books.

  4. Nice assortment of books. I'd likely choose one of the books with clever titles to read first. Come see what I got at Ms. Martin Teaches Media and Inside of a Dog. Happy reading!

  5. Love the cover of When the Cypress WHispers. We got 10" of snow on Wednesday, which I loved being housebound for, but now, I'm pretty much over that LOL

  7. When The Cypress Whispers does have a nice cover, and it's got a Greek island too so it's doing something right. :) Shunned and Dangerous looks good too, like those punny titles!

I'm so over the snow too, been a tough winter but now when it snows I'm just like yawn, what's new?

  8. I love cozy covers. I always try to give the illustrator credit when I can.

I am so sick of winter already. I teased my husband the other day by telling him when we were rich and famous we were moving to a warmer climate. He shot back "after this year that would mean moving to Guatemala". I am o.k. with that :)

    Have a great week!!

  11. An interesting looking buch of books!

I am really looking forward to reading about your impression of The Savage Girl. Of course there have been real life cases of children being raised by animals. These stories are fascinating.

  14. Spinning in Her Grave got my attention first! Love the covers of all the books.

I'm getting a bit blase about the snow and ice too. We're supposed to be getting snow any minute now and then later in the week...whatever.

    Have a great week!

  17. Songs Only You Know draws me in with the title and the cover. Oddly enough I don't think the cover is pretty in any way, but I'm so curious as to what the story is about, so it's doing its job in that respect.

  26. When The Cypress Whispers does have a really attractive cover, but he cozies look good too.

I've run out of room in my yard to put all this snow! I just hope it doesn't melt all in one day and cause flooding.

  27. I think I would mind the weather less if they didn't keep cancelling school! Sigh...my son will never get out of kindergarten at this rate!

Those are some really great covers. I hope the stories are just as good!

  28. I picked up Where the Cypress Whispers this week too! Although as for which to read first, I'd say Carol Radzwill's book since I loved her on Real Housewives of NYC!
