Winter snuck back just when spring had made its entrance, and we were hit with freezing dampness and a scattering of snow/sleet that, with overcast skies, made it seem like early March all over again. Sixties on Wednesday though, and I hope that will last!
Alstroemeria flowers on my table but not in my garden, which is still under winter. Happy Spring and Vernal Equinox!
Two new books to share, one an uncorrected proof and the other a soon to be released cozy.
The Strangler Vine by M.J. Carter is an historical mystery to be published March 31, 2015 by Putnam Sons.
Calcutta 1837. The East India Company rules India - or most of it; and its most notorious and celebrated son, Xavier Mountstuart, has gone missing. William Avery, a down-at-heel junior officer in the Company's army, is sent to find him, in the unlikely company of the enigmatic and uncouth Jeremiah Blake. A more mismatched duo couldn't be imagined, but they must bury their differences as they are caught up in a search that turns up too many unanswered questions and seems bound to end in failure. (publisher)
A Sticky Situation: A Sugar Grove Mystery by Jessie Crockett, to be published April 7, 2015 by Berkley.
Sugar Grove, New Hampshire, where the Greene family—including Dani's irksome Aunt Hazel—are busy preparing for the annual Maple Festival. But nothing kills the festive spirit like murder…( publisher)
Sounds formulaic, but we will see....
I finished reading two other cozy mysteries:
Horse of a Different Killer by Laura Morrigan
Death of a Liar (Hamish Macbeth Mystery) by M.C. Beaton
and gave them both four stars!

More sleet? I think you've definitely had enough! Hopefully the 60s on Wednesday will be the start of a trend! A Sticky Situation looks like a fun read and The Strangler Vine is intriguing. I've been in a cozy kind of mood so I think I'll start with A Sticky Situation. Have a great week and stay warm!
ReplyDeleteJoin in the cozy craze this spring, Katherine. Hope you enjoy A Sticky Situation, too!
DeleteOh, sorry about the cold again....those books look good, though. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteBet you are having better weather, Laurel-Rain Snow. Have a good Sunday!
DeleteI'm excited about trying The Strangler Vine. Just something about it has made me want to seek it out.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping for better weather. I know everyone is ready for spring!
The Strangler Vine may put me in British India, the Raj, which I am curious about. Eager to read it too, Kay. Happy Sunday!
DeleteSorry it's still winter where you are, but the flowers are really pretty! I like the Sticky Situation pun. :D I'm reading Night Broken by Patricia Briggs at the moment, and I'm liking it so far. Enjoy your books!
ReplyDeleteI'll look up Patricia Briggs, Viora, as I am not familiar with her books. Glad it's a good read.
DeleteWe have been deluged with rain the past few weeks. I'm hoping for a little sun today.
ReplyDeleteHave a great reading week!
Rain, oh my! It's overcast here and cold. May your rain bring on the spring flowers, Deb Nance!
DeleteI am in New York. We had some warm days and then six inches of snow on Friday. It is melting fast however.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking that my wife might really like A sticky Situation. I look forward to reading what you think of it.
Yes, the northeast has taken a real beating with snow. Let's hope you have seen the last of it for this winter! Happy reading and hope your wife will like this cozy.
DeleteBeautiful flowers...may more 'spring' up in your garden soon! Going to explore Jessie Crockett. Love M.C. Beaton and the humble Hamish?
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy Jessie Crockett!
DeleteWe didn't get frigid temps but sure did get a flood of water. It's supposed to be a bit cooler this week. In the 70s which is awesome weather.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your new books. Both look good!

ReplyDeleteLooking for the first signs of spring, too. Cindy. One brave tulip showed some leaves...
DeleteYour cozy titles are really grabbing my eye. I will have to look in my kindle titles for a cozy to read soon!
ReplyDeleteLots of Kindle cozies here, too, Martha.
DeleteMost cozies (that I've read) seem to be formulaic - but I still enjoy them!
ReplyDeleteI like some series more than others, of course!
DeleteI wish winter would sneak back in here.
ReplyDeleteHope you don't get your wish, Ryan :)
DeleteI hope Spring is here. Still chilly here.

Looking forward to The Strangler Vine too, Elizabeth.
DeleteBeautiful flowers. I see buds on our trees, but the temps are winter cold out.
ReplyDeleteNo buds here yet that I can see, Pat. Eagerly waiting too.
DeleteI like the cover of strangler vine!
ReplyDeleteI think it might be an interesting historical novel, Serena.
DeleteThe Alstroemeria look cheerful even if they are inside. No outdoor flowers in Chicago either. Winter doesn't want to go away this year. We got hit with 6 inches of snow yesterday.
ReplyDeleteWe got snow flurries only, Leslie, but it got pretty cold. Brrr!
