Sunday Salon: Books Bought, Not Borrowed

Welcome to the Sunday Salon where bloggers share their reading each week. Visit The Sunday Post hosted by The Caffeinated Bookreviewer. Also visit Mailbox Monday and A Daily Rhythm for Blue Mondays Musings.

I couldn't wait for a library copy of The GoldfinchA Spool of Blue Thread, and The Girl on the Train so I went out and bought and read them right away in the last couple of months. I was not disappointed. My most recent purchase is All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doers; the waiting list at the library was well over 100! These days I want to read not just for a good plot but for good or excellent writing!

  2. A waiting list of 100 sounds long, but libraries by extra copies when the waiting list gets longer. Still, I definitely understand wanting to get some books read ASAP!

Love the cover of All the Light We Cannot See. The Hiss and Tell cover made me laugh.

  3. Our library list is very long for All the Light We Cannot See, too, and I didn't get a chance to read it when my turn came up a couple of months ago! Think I'll just purchase a copy when I'm ready for it.

  13. I must admit that I bought The Goldfinch and All the Light We Cannot See partly because of the long wait at the library (and I really wanted to read them!) but also because they were so cheap on Kindle shortly after they were released!

    1. You got your reading in early! The only time I bought a book from Kindle that I really, really wanted was IQ84, because it was too thick to carry around, over 1000 pages. But the Kindle version was a godsend; I got through it in several days.
