Sunday Salon: Death Doesn't Forget by Ed Lin

 Book Arrival:

Death Doesn't Forget

(TAIPEI NIGHT MARKET #4)

by

The fourth of Ed Lin's Taipei mystery series is as hilarious and poignant as ever.

Jing-nan, the proprietor of a food stand at Taipei's largest night market,
is framed for a string of high-profile murders in the city.

This could jeopardize his relationship with Nancy, his girlfriend, and with his workers Dwayne and Frankie the Cat, who are facing their own personal trials. For Jing-nan,  everything is on the line. Worst of all, he could lose followers on social media. (publisher)

Thanks to Soho Crime for a hardcopy of this book, for possible review.

E-book ARCsI have tons to read, plus several library books, in all genres. The problem is, which of them to read first, then next, then after that? It comes down to my mood, especially inbetween chores.

Gardening is taking up a lot of time, ever since we took down a huge tree limb that covered half the back yard. We now have the sunlight and the space to be more creative, but it is taking a lot of weeding, replanting, planting, and mulching. All to be done inbetween the very hot weather and the rain!

What are you reading this week?

  1. Gardening is always a big deal — no matter what the weeds grow, the mulch mysteriously disappears, the flowers need deadheading…

  4. My husband has found his niche in doing gardening work, and that helps.

I like the sound of a mystery that is both hilarious and poignant.

Good luck figuring out what to read next! It's always difficult to decide.

  6. I haven't heard of this series before, but it sounds good! I hear you on the endless yardwork and the heat!! I'm really not able to work outdoors in this heat, so our weeds are taking it over, and it;s driving me crazy! Good luck getting yours all done!

    1. Yard work is always slow as I do just a little at a time, hoping some day the bulk of it will be done.

  7. Oh I like the look of this one, and the Taiwan setting. And I hear you on the gardening. It's nice to get rid of overhanging limbs when they become a problem. Good luck with everything!

    1. One more overhanging limb to go, in November, when the neighbor's oak tree goes dormant and can be cut.

    2. We're having that too- lots of limb cutting this summer, both our own and our neighbors' who overhang our yard...

  10. Your book sounds good, I'll look for your review!

I hope you share some photos of your yard when you're finished. We had to have our sewer line replaced so a lot of our back and some of the front yard had to be dug up. I decided that it's a good time to do some planting if I can only figure out what I want to plant :)

I hope you have a great week!

    1. A long way to go yet, Vicki, but I'll try to add a portion of the yard next time. So many choices of plants. I usually plant perennials as I'm in a colder zone 5.

  12. Oh yes, gardening is a lot of work! We've had the same trouble with the weather, there's a lot to do but nature isn't always cooperating. But the results feel very rewarding. Have a great week and happy reading!

  13. I'm a mood reader too so I stopped accepting review books. I'm happier reading according to my whims.

My husband and I have realized since we've been traveling in our RV for a few years now that we dislike gardening and yardwork. We don't miss it at all! Good luck with the heat and rain!

  17. Thanks so much for this introduction to Ed Lin. I'm looking forward to discovering a new mystery writer in a new setting. I hear you about the gardening. I almost have ours under control after being sick with Covid for two weeks. Of course, the house looks like a disaster has hit...

  18. That cover caught my attention. Being "hilarious" gets more interest.
I have trouble picking through all of my ebooks too - but no ARCs for me as it takes too much to get an ebook read with my phone and tablet challenges.
Hope you get to enjoy some of the garden... results make the work feel better.
Have a good week and Happy Reading!

    1. I'm enjoying the funny aspects of the book, as some humor does lighten the tension in a murder mystery. I love reading paper books from the library also.
