Welcome to the Sunday Salon!
This past week, I reviewed The Brick Layer, a thriller by Noah Boyd, and posted a book giveaway of two copies, courtesy of Wiredset; posted a tricolor daylily for Wordless Wednesday, and commented on Nobel Prize authors, Orhan Pamuk and Yasunari Kawabata.
Not much for the week, but as of March 1 my days became busier and I am limited to a few posts and fewer books that I'll have time to read. Isn't it ironic. I had to wait for spring in order to emerge from "hibernation" and get out and about. But I'll miss the every-day postings that I did while I was snowbound in February.
I have to thank tenor Andrea Bocelli for keeping me company with the songs on his Opera Album ~ Aria CD, with music from Rigoletto, Carmen, La Boheme, Madama Butterfly, Tosca, and more. A big thank you, Andrea. You can sing for me any time, even when it's not snowing!
To top it off, Mysteries and My Musings awarded me the Prolific Blogger Award. This is the first time I've gotten this award and I truly value it. It came at just the right time. Thanks so much, A.F. Heart! Please visit her blog to find out more. I will try to pass on this wonderful award soon.
What have you done this past week?

Awards
PattiKen and the Muses has passed on this interesting award! PattiKen is a new blogging and writing friend. Please check out her blog!
To accept the award, I have to give seven bits of information about myself and tag others. I haven't been passing on awards for a while though I always acknowledge them in the sidebar. The arm with the hammer means to me that we writers and bloggers work hard to pound out our words and posts, scrap or otherwise :)and deserve a gentle pat on the back every now and then. Thanks, PattiKen!
Bits of personal info? Here goes:
1. I live in a flat agricultural state in the Midwest USA though I grew up not far from mountains and the ocean. I miss both, expecially in the dead of winter!
2. I love dogs and would love to have a Rottweiler pup that I wouldn't be scared of when it grew up to be a huge force of nature :)
3. "Sunshine always makes me smile" (song).
4. I often add molasses, chocolate, and cinnamon to my coffee.
5. I often take home more library books than I can read before the due dates.
6. I'll only read ebooks if I want to really rush through a book. I can scan an ebook faster than a regular book - don't know why.
7. I've run out of things to say about myself :)
I'd like to pass on this award to some who haven't received it as yet. There are so many people to choose from, but the award will be passed on, so ....
From my Google Reader:
a) Rose City Reader
b)Sheila Deeth Blog
c)The Reading Life
d)Fair Dinkum Book Reviews
e)Confessions of the Un-Published
f)Book Ends
Just a few of the many great blog sites...Please visit them!
I'd also like to thank Elena from All Booked Up for the One Lovely Blog Award! Please visit her wonderful book blog!
The bloggers tagged above are tagged for this award as well!
Have a great weekend, and keep on blogging!

Awards from some very nice bloggers!
Thanks so much to Michael of A Few Minutes With Michael and also to Jessica of A BookLover's Diary for the Kreativ Blogger Award!
To accept this, I am to list seven of my favorite things and send the award on to seven blogs.
My favorite things (doubled because I like lists):
1. Checking to see which new country arrived on my blog. Getting new awards.
2. Checking the robin's nest just outside the front window to see if she's still flitting in and out, fixing up the nest for the second clutch of eggs. Update: She's back and settling in for the long haul. Watching to see when the eggs will hatch!
3. Having a rum and coke in the summer. Having one in the winter.
4. Having a pina colada in the summer, and in the winter.
5. Reading a really good book without interruptions. Getting a new book in the mail.
6. Watching my neighbors coo over their two little dogs. Watching my neighbors plant a bright pink hydrangea and other flowers.
7. Lying on a beach all day (if I could find one close by). Reading on a beach all day if I can get there.
I nominate :
A Book A Week
A Bookworm's Blog

Sassy Brit and Her Gang
Barney's Book Blog
Bibliophile By the Sea

The Proximidade Award
This unique award comes from Natalie of The Book Inn and also from Mari of MariReads
This blog invests and believes in the Proximity – nearness in space, time and relationships. These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement! Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers! Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this clever-written text into the body of their award.
I'd like to pass this on to
Reading at the Beach
Enchanted by Josephine
Everything Distils into Reading
A BookLover's Diary
Dolce Bellezza
-----------
Thanks to Vicki of Reading at the Beach for this very generous award!
The Humane Award is in order to honor certain bloggers that I feel are kindhearted individuals. They regularly take part in my blog and always leave the sweetest comments. I thank them and look forward to our growing friendships through the blog world.”

Yet another award, this one from Britt of A Book Habitue. Thanks, Britt.
"Blogs that received the Let’s Be Friends Award are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers."
